Gen.G beat LYON 3-0 at Worlds in Allen on 4 November.

Gen.G beat LYON 3–0 in a Worlds 2026 quarterfinal on 4 November in Allen, Texas. The series started at 16:15 CST (UTC-6, 23:15 CET) and was over by 18:29 CST. Game 2 lasted 26 minutes 32 seconds. That is the number that matters.

The rest of the knockout map is in our Worlds quarterfinals piece. This one is the sweep, and the path that made it look inevitable.

Three games, none of them long

On ReadyCheck the games ran 32:13, 26:32 and 33:29. All three under 34 minutes. All three to Gen.G. The series did not need a fourth.

LYON had already stolen a game off this roster in Swiss. In a Bo5 they never got that far. The short one, game 2, is where the quarterfinal stopped being a rematch and became a closeout.

Ten days, two series, one game for LYON

On 25 October, in Swiss Round 3, Gen.G beat LYON 2–1. That series is the only Worlds meeting where LYON took a game. Ten days later, same building, best-of-five, 3–0.

In our 2026 log they have also played a First Stand Bo5, 19 March: Gen.G 3–0. Across those three series LYON have 1 game in 9 (0 + 1 + 0). The Swiss steal was the high-water mark, not a sign the Bo5 would be close.

A 3–0 Swiss, then the same name again

Gen.G did not wander into this quarterfinal. They went 3–0 through Swiss and never played Round 4: Invictus Gaming 1–0, Hanwha Life Esports 1–0, then the 2–1 over LYON. Worlds games so far: 7–1. The only loss is that Swiss game against the team they just swept.

Before Allen they had already closed LCK. Grand final against Hanwha Life, 13 September, 3–1. Same opponent they then beat 1–0 in Swiss Round 2. Their last 10 finished series on ReadyCheck are 9–1. The one loss in that ten is a 1–2 against Dplus KIA in the LCK Legend Group, 22 August. Everything since has been a win, including three LCK playoff Bo5s and four Worlds series.

LYON's Swiss was the other road: 3–2. They beat Team Secret Whales and Karmine Corp, dropped a Bo3 to Gen.G, dropped another to Invictus Gaming, then beat LOS 2–1 to get into the last eight. They were the last LCS team in Allen. The Bo5 lasted three games.

Our read

The 2–1 in Swiss told you LYON could take a game. It did not tell you they could take a series. Gen.G's night was a 3–0 Swiss team drawing the same 3–2 side they had already solved, then refusing to give the game back. Chovy, Kiin, Canyon, Ruler, Duro: the same five that closed LCK, now two rounds from Brooklyn.

Saturday, 7 November, 16:00 CST (UTC-6, 23:00 CET), they play Invictus Gaming in a semifinal. They already beat that roster 1–0 in Swiss Round 1. IG got through Top Esports 3–1 on 3 November. That is a different night. It is also another rematch.

How do you see that Bo5? The 3–0 is on the match page. The rest of Allen is in the quarterfinals piece.
