A lower-bracket run, then revenge
Nothing came easy. On August 19, JD Gaming edged TYLOO 2–1 in the upper-bracket semifinals and sent them down. From there, every series was sudden death: one more loss, and the season was over.
TYLOO did not blink.
- Lower-bracket quarterfinals (August 20): a clean 2–0 over All Gamers.
- Lower-bracket semifinals (August 21): another 2–0 sweep of Nova Esports.
- Lower-bracket final (August 22): a 3–0 shutout of Bilibili Gaming in a best-of-five.
- Grand final (August 23, 16:30 CST / UTC+8, 10:30 CEST): the rematch, TYLOO 3–1 JD Gaming.
JDG had looked untouchable on the other side of the bracket: Nova, then TYLOO, then a 2–0 upper-bracket final against
Bilibili Gaming on August 21. In the grand final they struck first on Lotus. TYLOO answered on Split, Breeze, and Summit, three maps in a row, and closed the story they had started four days earlier.
How the tournament worked
China Stage 2 ran through groups, then an eight-team playoff.
- Double elimination: lose once in the upper bracket and you drop to the lower bracket. Lose a second time and you are out.
- Series length: most matches were best-of-three. The lower-bracket final and the grand final were best-of-five.
- Champions: both grand-finalists go to VALORANT Champions in Shanghai. TYLOO as China champions, JD Gaming as runners-up.
